Live online classes in Montreal
Indian culture classesfor families in Montreal.
Sanskrit, shlokas, chanting, the Ramayana and the Gita, storytelling, public speaking, Bharatanatyam and yoga, taught live from India, in small batches, at hours that work in Montreal.
Quebec's Charter of the French Language sends most children of immigrant families to French-language schools, so a child of Indian parents in Montreal usually spends the school day in French and goes home to English, an Indian language, or both. Montreal parents therefore ask a question Toronto parents rarely do: whether a class taught in English suits a child whose schooling is French. For most it does, because the English in the room is the plain English of a teacher explaining the next verse. The clock is Toronto's: the Indian evening batches land at 8:30 on a Saturday morning and 9:30 on a Sunday through the winter, an hour later in summer.

Questions from families in Montreal
My child is schooled in French. Will an English class work?
Usually, yes. A child needs enough English to follow a teacher's instructions, and most Montreal children of Indian families have that from home. If you are unsure, the free trial class is the honest test: the teacher will tell you afterwards whether the batch will work for your child.
Is Montreal on the same clock as Toronto?
Yes. Montreal, Toronto, Brampton and Ottawa all keep Eastern time and move their clocks on the same American calendar, the second Sunday of March and the first Sunday of November.
Which slot do Montreal families take?
The two Indian evening batches, which fall on a Saturday or Sunday morning here. The Indian morning batches land at 9:30pm on Friday and 10:30pm on Saturday in winter, which suits adult learners rather than children.
What time are the classes in Montreal?
Our batches run Saturday morning IST (Fri 9:30pm in Montreal), Saturday evening IST (Sat 8:30am in Montreal), Sunday morning IST (Sat 10:30pm in Montreal), Sunday evening IST (Sun 9:30am in Montreal). If none of those suit, tell us the hours that do and we will build a batch around them. We schedule around the learner, not around Indian hours.
Do you have a centre in Montreal?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Every class is taught live over video by teachers in India, and our office is in HSR Layout, Sector 2, Bengaluru. That is what lets a family in Montreal learn from a teacher who grew up inside this tradition rather than one who is the nearest available.
