Live online classes in Mauritius
Indian culture classesfor families in Mauritius.
Sanskrit, shlokas, chanting, the Ramayana and the Gita, storytelling, public speaking, Bharatanatyam and yoga, taught live from India, in small batches, at hours that work in Mauritius.
Mauritius keeps Maha Shivaratri, Ganesh Chaturthi, Ougadi, Thaipoosam Cavadee and Divali as public holidays, and teaches ancestral languages, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu and Bhojpuri among them, in ordinary schools. A Mauritian child may well be learning one of them already. What families write to us for is the part a school timetable does not reach: Sanskrit itself, recitation and chanting, and the Gita and the epics read closely. Mauritius is ninety minutes behind India with no daylight saving, so the Indian evening batches land at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and 6:30 on a Sunday, all year.

Questions from families in Mauritius
My child already learns Hindi at school. Is this the same thing?
No, and the two sit well together. Hindi at school is a modern language taught to be spoken and written. We teach Sanskrit, and what sits inside it: shlokas, chanting, the Ramayana and the Gita. A child who reads Hindi already reads Devanagari, which gives them a real head start.
Do the class times change during the year?
No. Neither Mauritius nor India observes daylight saving, so the ninety-minute gap holds every week of the year.
Are the morning batches usable?
They land at 6:30am on Saturday and 7:30am on Sunday in Mauritius. That is early for most children, but a Sunday at 7:30 suits some families, and many adult learners.
What time are the classes in Mauritius?
Our batches run Saturday morning IST (Sat 6:30am in Mauritius), Saturday evening IST (Sat 5:30pm in Mauritius), Sunday morning IST (Sun 7:30am in Mauritius), Sunday evening IST (Sun 6:30pm in Mauritius). If none of those suit, tell us the hours that do and we will build a batch around them. We schedule around the learner, not around Indian hours.
Do you have a centre in Mauritius?
No, and we would rather say so plainly. Every class is taught live over video by teachers in India, and our office is in HSR Layout, Sector 2, Bengaluru. That is what lets a family in Mauritius learn from a teacher who grew up inside this tradition rather than one who is the nearest available.
How do we pay from Mauritius?
Fees depend on the batch and how often it meets, and we take international payments. Message us on WhatsApp for the current fee list in your currency. The 30-minute trial class is free, with no payment details taken.
