Live online classes in Dallas

Indian culture classesfor families in Dallas.

Sanskrit, shlokas, chanting, the Ramayana and the Gita, storytelling, public speaking, Bharatanatyam and yoga, taught live from India, in small batches, at hours that work in Dallas.

Dallas is on Central time, eleven and a half hours behind India in winter and ten and a half once American clocks move in March. That puts it almost exactly opposite Bengaluru, and it makes Central the one American clock where every batch on the timetable suits somebody. The Indian evening batches land at breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday, and the Indian Saturday morning batch lands at 8:30 on a Friday night in winter, early enough for an older child. Dallas families choose the slot by the child rather than by the clock.

What families in Dallas can learn

Every class below is open to every age, and every one is taught live in a small batch.

Samskara Seeding

through Culture & Scriptures

The texts, the stories and the customs, taught so a child grows up inside the tradition rather than visiting it once a year. This is the track most families begin with.

Confidence Building

Voice, argument and presence

Speaking, debating and standing in front of a room. The skills that decide whether what a child knows ever reaches anybody else.

Art & Craft

Dance, drawing and making, in the Indian tradition

Classical dance, drawing, painting and making, taught through the forms and festival crafts this culture produced, including live online Bharatanatyam for beginners. Batches are opening now; timings are arranged with the families who join.

Yoga & Wellness

For kids, adults and seniors, and for the back and neck that ache

Live online yoga in small batches, taught by qualified teachers in the tradition it comes from. Separate batches for children, adults and older learners, and focused batches for what people actually come to yoga with: back pain, a stiff neck and shoulders, weight, sleep and stress.

Questions from families in Dallas

Which slot suits a Dallas family?

For younger children, the two Indian evening batches: 7:30am on Saturday and 8:30am on Sunday through the winter, an hour later from March to November. For older children and adults, the Indian Saturday morning batch, which falls at 8:30pm on Friday in winter and 9:30pm in summer. The table above shows all four converted.

Can two children in one family take different slots?

On Central time that is often the sensible arrangement: a younger child in a weekend-morning batch and an older one, or a parent, on Friday night. Batches are grouped by age and level, so siblings of different ages are usually in different batches anyway.

Is Dallas on the same clock as Houston and Chicago?

Yes, all three are Central. New Jersey, New York and Atlanta are an hour ahead of you, Seattle and the Bay Area two hours behind, so use those city pages if that is where you are.

What time are the classes in Dallas?

Our batches run Saturday morning IST (Fri 8:30pm in Dallas), Saturday evening IST (Sat 7:30am in Dallas), Sunday morning IST (Sat 9:30pm in Dallas), Sunday evening IST (Sun 8:30am in Dallas). If none of those suit, tell us the hours that do and we will build a batch around them. We schedule around the learner, not around Indian hours.

Do you have a centre in Dallas?

No, and we would rather say so plainly. Every class is taught live over video by teachers in India, and our office is in HSR Layout, Sector 2, Bengaluru. That is what lets a family in Dallas learn from a teacher who grew up inside this tradition rather than one who is the nearest available.
